There's no need to deal with your smartphone addiction because tech companies have made screens 'safer' with a new type of light

We can't be trusted with our smartphones, so tech companies are being forced to step in.

But, then again, it could just be a slick marketing ploy off the back of our modern paranoia over square eyes.

Electronic screens get a bad rep for interrupting sleep and forcing us to blink less, so Philips is launching a fancy new technology dubbed "SoftBlue", which claims to be gentler on the retina.

So, don't worry guys, there's no need to put down your smartphone and start interacting with the people in front of you.

That gorgeous blue hue reflecting in your Google-weary eyes is probably less bad for you than before. Maybe.

Or, just fish one of these out of your kitchen drawer...
