Dolly Parton gets a taste of her own medicine as she receives second Covid vaccine

Dolly Parton is now fully vaccinated after receiving her second dose of the coronavirus jab – and she again marked the occasion in true Dolly fashion.

The beloved country music star announced the news by posting two pictures on Instagram – one showing her posing with the medics who administered the jab, and the other showing her receiving the vaccine.

Never one to lose out in the style stakes, the 75-year-old is seen wearing a patterned face mask, alongside a glittery gold jacket, which has a button on the shoulder for easy jab access.

In a nod to the funding which she has given the vaccine development, she captioned the picture: ‘Dolly gets a (second) dose of her own medicine. Thank you Dr Naji Abumrad, @andrearae80 and @heatherbrooke613 of @vanderbilthealth.’

When she received her first dose of the Moderna vaccine, Dolly celebrated in equally iconic style as she broke into song and adapted one of her best-known ballads.

To the tune of Jolene, she sang: “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m begging of you, please don’t hesitate. Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, because once you’re dead, then that’s a bit too late.”

After writing ‘Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’ on the same day, Parton had already stake a claim to being one of history’s greatest heroes.

But she went even further last year when it was revealed that she donated $1m to scientists working on Covid research.

The donation from the Dolly Parton Covid-19 Research Fund went to Vanderbilt University medical centre inNashville, Tennessee, which worked on the Moderna vaccine trials.

People reacted with joy to the news that Dolly is now fully vaccinated, with many mesmerised by very cool vaccine-custom outfit...

But mostly, people were just taking time to appreciate America’s 10x Grammy-winning, multi-platinum-selling public health queen.

Thank you, Dolly. We salute you.
