Emilia Clarke reveals which ‘Game of Thrones’ co-star is to blame for the Starbucks coffee cup gaffe

Emilia Clarke has revealed which Game of Thrones cast members was behind the infamous Starbucks coffee cup gaffe.

If you haven’t tried to remove all memory of season 8 from your mind, you may remember an episode in which a Starbucks cup mysteriously appeared in front of Clarke’s character Daenerys Targaryen.

There have been questions ever since the episode aired about who was responsible for the obvious mistake, with co-star Sophie Turner jokingly pointing to Clarke as the culprit.

Now, Clarke has broken her silence on who she believes the real culprit is.

When questioned by Jimmy Fallon about the true story behind the blunder, the actress said:

Okay so here’s the truth. We had a party before the Emmys recently and Conleth [Hill], who plays Varys, who’s sitting next to me in that scene – he pulls me aside and he’s like: ‘Emilia, I’ve got to tell you something… the coffee cup was mine.’

It was his! It was Conleth’s coffee cup! He said so!

Wow… Emilia has really thrown Conleth under the bus here….

Clarke has tried to shift the blame for the blunder before – like in May, when she shared a picture of her holding a non-Starbucks cup which she claimed exonerated her.

Although soon after the episode aired, HBO named Clarke’s character without explicitly blaming her.

In a statement, they said:

In response to enquiries from those who saw a craft services coffee cup in Sunday night's episode of 'Game of Thrones': The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.

We won’t know for certain who the culprit was until we have a confession from Varys himself.

Sorry "Daenerys Targaryen #1 stan", we'll stop talking about it now...
