A location from Joaquin Phoenix's Joker movie has become a hilarious meme

A location from Joaquin Phoenix's Joker movie has become a hilarious meme

People have worked out the location of an instantly iconic scene from Todd Phillips’ Joker and they are heading there in droves.

The stairs connecting Shakespeare and Anderson avenues at West 167th Street in the Bronx in New York City feature in the film at a key moment, when Joaquin Phoenix’s character’s metamorphosis is complete.

Inexplicably, the sequence in which the Joker dances down the steps is backed by the music of Gary Glitter, a convicted sex offender.

Now the fine people on Twitter and Instagram have been heading to the steps and posting photos and videos emulating the character.

However, there has been a backlash to this brand new tourist location, as locals are unhappy about the influx of visitors to the spot.

This has morphed into some taking to Twitter to warn people away from the location by spreading harmless jokes or more worrying rumours about potential robberies taking place.

We sincerely hope that nobody who visits the location gets robbed but if you are a fan of the movie and are planning to visit the stairs please be careful.
