Influencer Logan Paul just gave a better speech about racism than Donald Trump

To say Logan Paul isn't the most likeable person on the internet is putting it lightly.

In the past, he has shown very poor judgment on issues such as suicide and LGBTQ+ issues, and although we can't forgive those instances, he doesn't appear to be confused about the subject of racism.

In a recent episode of his podcast, the controversial YouTube star gave a strong and passionate speech about racism claiming that many of us have to do more than simply "not be racist".

It's a long quote, but we think it's important to share in full.

Talking about the Black Lives Matter protests and the death of George Floyd, the 25-year-old said:

One of my biggest learnings from all of this and I'm embarrassed to say this but it has taken me 25 years to realise this. It is not enough to be not racist – you have to be anti-racist.

Condemn those who feign superiority because of the colour of their skin. Hold friends accountable. Hold your family accountable. Hold yourself accountable and most importantly, we must hold our authorities accountable. Police officers. Politicians. Policy makers.

As Killer Mike said: 'bully the politicians at the voting booth'. Make your voice heard. Attend a protest. Speak up against injustice. If you are white, if you look like me use your privilege. For those who do not think white privilege exists you are f**king blind. You are delusional and you are part of the problem. I can count on zero hands the amount of times that I have feared for my life at a routine traffic stop. That has never happened.

Half of the reason I was able to get away with the hooligan s**t I get away with on my vlogs is because I'm a white kid. I'm confident that I do not have to fear for my life should the cops show up. Acknowlege and weaponise your privilege. I believe we are going to a protest today, you can bet your f**king ass I'll be on the front line.

Knowing all this about America, it's racially charged background, it's inability to truly treat humans as equals, even after 200 years after its inception we must now work to making a solution and if you are an influencer or a celebrity friend of mine, I hope you are using your platform to continue to spread the message of solidarity and unity. I do not have all the answers but I know we must not reverse engineer the system as a collective.

We must open our eyes and realise that there is only one race and that is the human race. On behalf of Breonna Taylor, we must change. On behalf of Ahmaud Arbery we must advance. On behalf of George Floyd and the hundreds of others who have been unjustly murdered in this country, we must evolve.

Paul's speech has been viewed on Twitter more than 6.8 million times and left many people confused as to how an otherwise loathed celebrity is suddenly speaking more sense than the president of the United States.

Speaking of the president, Trump's speeches have so far consisted of threatening his own people with military action if they didn't stop protesting, and also firing tear gas at them just so he could have his photo taken outside of a church because he was 'upset' about people mocking him for hiding in a bunker.

Trump has also demanded that anti-fascist protestors be classified as a terrorist organisation and his press secretary claimed, without irony, that he had a 'long history of condemning racism and white supremacy.'

This isn't the first time that Logan Paul has been in the headlines since the protests started. The star publicly criticised his brother Jake who was caught on camera amid looters who had raided a shopping mall in Arizona.
