Oscar nominations: 28 of the best reactions as Black Panther is shortlisted but women directors snubbed again

The 91st Oscar nominations were announced today in Hollywood with Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross doing the hosting duty.

Popular films included A Star is Born, Black Panther, Vice, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite and Roma, with the latter two receiving ten nominations each.

As always with any major film nominations, there is a lot of hubbub and vitriol after the announcements - and this year did not disappoint.

Maybe the biggest and most noteworthy story was the nomination of Black Panther for Best Picture, making it the first ever superhero and Marvel movie to pick up such a prestigious nod.

As you can probably guess people were very excited about this.

Meanwhile, there were mixed fortunes for A Star is Born, which picked up eight nominations but saw Bradley Cooper snubbed for Best Director.

Elsewhere, Olivia Colman's ascension from car insurance adverts to Oscar nominee is something that we can all appreciate and get behind.

People were upset that some movies got snubbed.

There were smaller films to champion, though.

Unfortunately, the Academy chose to overlook women directors again, leaving the likes of Lynne Ramsey, Debra Granik and Chloe Zhao unacknowledged.
