Piers Morgan fires back at Dan Walker following his recent remarks about the ex-Good Morning Britain host

Piers Morgan has reignited his feud with BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker after the latter had made several remarks about him following his dramatic exit from Good Morning Britain.

Morgan quit the ITV show last month following criticism of his comments about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after their widely discussed interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In the aftermath, Walker jokingly invited Morgan onto BBC Breakfast to explain his sudden departure, a nod towards the rating war between Good Morning Britain and the BBC’s equivalent show.

Walker had previously criticised Morgan for his comments about Markle, stating that: “I hope my boss would have dragged me off set if I’d used my platform - on national TV - to tell a pregnant woman, speaking openly about suicidal thoughts, that I didn’t believe a word she said.”

Morgan has now added more fuel to this fire thanks to some stern words directed at Walker in his recent Mail on Sunday column. Although beyond their social media spats, Walker has spoken highly of Morgan, it would seem the feeling isn’t mutual.

Morgan writes: “Ironically, I’ve always thought that underneath all Dan’s faux saintly froth, there’s a nasty piece of work fighting to get out.”

The former newspaper editor went on to comment about BBC Breakfast taking over GMB in the ratings and again adding: “the one thing guaranteed to have him stamping on kittens is the knowledge that GMB finally overtook BBC Breakfast in the ratings, on his watch, on my last day.”

Morgan continued his criticism of Dan ‘Halo’ Walker by admitting that it did hurt when the BBC overtook him in viewers but “fortunately, Mr Walker, your poodle-like simpering with Government Ministers single-handedly gifted me the gold medal and cured the pain!”

The Times interview that Morgan mentioned saw Walker say: “Piers and I have had a friendly rivalry, but it has been good for BBC Breakfast and GMB. He likes to throw a few insults around, but underneath all the froth I think there is a decent bloke fighting to get out.”

Although Morgan has a habit of saying a few scathing things, we suspect that this rivalry is purely for show and they are probably the best of mates behind doors. Probably...
