What's that on the horizon? It's the internet, here to ruin your childhood Disney memories!

Frozen, the hit animation film released in 2013, continues to be a favourite in households up and down the land.

Fans of the film online have a sinister theory to explain one of the film's plot hiccups.

One user on Imgur posted about the theory.

The plot point which this fan theory addresses concerns a scene late on in Frozen.

Hans, one of the villains of the film, has Elsa imprisoned in a dungeon, and he uses special handcuffs that muzzle her powers.

This all makes sense within the logic of the film's universe, however, what is unclear is how Hans knew such handcuffs would work.

According the lore of Frozen, only three people in the world knew about Elsa's magical powers: Elsa, and her parents.

The sinister fan theory follows that Elsa's parents constructed the dungeon and power muzzling handcuffs for use on their own daughter - in case she ever went rogue.
