Which is why people were so excited by actor Timothée Chalamet’s decision to call pal Selena Gomez as he waited in line to cast his vote in the US election.

The former co-stars chatted about the importance of the ballot on Instagram Live and too the opportunity to encourage their millions of followers to vote.

At one point, Chalamet told Gomez how “proud” he was of her efforts to encourage fans to engage in democracy.

“Listen,” he said, “I know it goes without saying, I’m really proud of you. You’ve been all over this stuff. I know it’s making a difference.

"I feel like you’re really on the curve with this stuff and it’s really important and inspiring”.

The pair also discussed the fact they were both voting Democrat during the 10-minute conversation.

"I really hope this guy loses….oh, man. I think in New York we’re safe, victory-wise,” said Chalamet, with Gomez agreeing.

“"My stomach hurts because I’m nervous,” she said in response.

Safe to say, people really enjoyed the electoral link up.

It was seen as a really accessible way to get out the vote.
