Toy Story fans claims Disney have ‘ruined’ Buzz Lightyear after seeing him without a spacesuit

Fans of the Toy Story movie franchise say they have been left scarred by seeing Buzz Lightyear without his spacesuit on.

It comes as Pixar released a trailer for the upcoming Buzz Lightyear movie which gave fans a first glimpse of the much-loved character.

The film Lightyear is due for release in June 2022 and will tell the story of the “real-life” astronaut that inspired the making of the Buzz Lightyear toy in the Toy Story franchise.

Buzz is voiced by actor Chris Evans and follows the astronaut’s career from a space ranger to becoming the Captain of the Universe Protection Unit of the Space Ranger corps.

The first Toy Story film was released in 1995 and many children since have grown up watching the four movies in the series.

The concept of the Buzz Lightyear toy’s “origin” story has been difficult for some to get their heads around, while others are more disturbed by the way the astronaut looks.

Some joked that seeing Buzz in the new trailer has ruined their childhood, particularly as many imagined him to be bald underneath his spacesuit.

One person wrote: “Buzz lightyear not being bald has ruined my childhood.”

Another joked: “Everyone shocked about Buzz Lightyear’s hair because they thought he would have a... buzz cut.”

Someone else said: “what do you mean Buzz Lightyear has brown hair and isn’t a bald purple man.”

One person suggested: “Seeing Buzz Lightyear with hair feels like looking into the Ark of the Covenant like I’m not supposed to see it or my face will melt off.”
