Italy fan gets tattoo of Chiellini’s controversial foul on Saka in Euro 2020 final

It’s been a week since England lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy but the pain is still very raw for fans of the Three Lions but it’s a very different story for Italians.

You may not need reminding but just in case Gareth Southgate’s men lost on penalties to the Azzurri after Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all missed their spot-kicks. It was the cruellest way to lose a game of football and unleased the best and worst of people in England.

Many felt that things could have been significantly different on the night if Italy were more heavily punished for a series of obvious fouls on England players the worst example of which involved Italy’s captain Giorgio Chiellini tugging on the neck of Saka shirt as the 19-year-old raced away from the veteran defender.

The moment will perhaps go down in history as one of the most memorable moments in that entire match and instantly became a meme. Well, now it has been immortalised by one Italian fan in tattoo form with the added insult of the European Championship trophy falling away from the young Arsenal winger.

As you can imagine, reactions to the tattoo have been mixed.

A petition has been launched in wake of the finals result calling for the game to be replayed because of the lack of red cards given to the Italians. It has already been signed by more than 140,000 people.
