Americans are somehow getting very confused about this photo of 'Vietnam veterans'

Recently a post purporting to be in praise of Vietnam veterans has been shared by various Facebook pages, hitting prominence through shares and comments.

They read much like the one below - there are many duplicates and versions:

Sadly less than 2 per cent of you will like and share this picture of brave Vietnam soldiers. So lets see how many likes and shares they can get.

We've taken a section of the comments, highlighting the ones that mentioned the photo was a fraud in green, and those that did not in red...

The hit rate of people who either miss (what we we hope is) the joke or perpetuating it is relatively high - enough so that Snopes felt the need to do a debunker.

It went pretty simply - that the photo is clearly from the 2008 film Tropic Thunder, and that the men in the photo are, from left to right, the internationally known actors Jay Baruchel, Brandon T Jackson, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr and Jack Black...
