Photographer Dan Kitwood has created a beautiful series of portraits of all the pooches left over at this dogs home after Christmas.

The charity Battersea Dogs and Cats home often see a rise in the number of adoptions around Christmas.

But the dogs and cats home can only do so much, and not every dog is chosen before the holidays.

Around 550 dogs and 200 cats are provided refuge by Battersea at any given time, but they need you to come take them and give them forever homes!

Most dogs stay at the home for 28 days on average.

If you're not feeling emotional about this already, indy100 will turn up the guilt to 11 with Kitwood's photo series.
