No, a rainbow didn't really appear above the White House after the gay marriage ruling

Amid the joyous celebrations following news that the Supreme Court had lifted all restrictions on gay marriage in the US, something wonderful appeared to happen in Washington DC.

Almost as if a sign of approval from a higher being, this photo of a rainbow above the White House was shared across social media.

Unfortunately, it really was too good to be true this time. White House adviser Betsey Stevenson later clarified that the picture had actually been taken last week.

But, hey, it's not like that really matters on a day like today.
