Quite why Friday 13th is regarded as unlucky is shrourded in mystery. But one thing that is clear is just how superstitious people in the UK are.

According to a new survey of 2,247 Britons, 52 per cent of people consider broken mirrors bad luck and 50 per cent think walking under ladders is.

Meanwhile, these are the 10 most superstitious cities in the country:

1. Belfast - 52%

2. Glasgow - 49%

3. Manchester - 48%

4. Birmingham - 48%

5. Edinburgh - 45%

6. Bristol - 45%

7. Cardiff - 44%

8. Nottingham - 43%

9. Leeds - 42%

10. Newcastle - 42%
