Britain may have thought it was in the business of producing world class vox pops following its efforts in Magaluf earlier this week, but the US has well and truly just upped the ante.
In a video reminiscent of America's finest local television interviews, what was a fairly run-of-the-mill local news story has become a national sensation after Ruby Evans's colourful recollection of events.
"The guy was coming down, and I guess the police was trying to do a stop point and the man said ‘no, not today’ and they begin to race behind each other like cats and dogs," Evans recalled to a reporter from WLBT3 who was at the scene of a crash in which a police officer was injured in Jackson, Mississippi. "Girl, he hit the pole!"
I was actually going to get me a piece of burger from Burger King and I just stopped right in the middle ‘cause my heart just went away ‘cause when I seen the accident, girl, I just begin to be nosy and just had to just understand that somebody was experiencing this difficulty.
Although the police officer has been released from hospital after recovering from minor injuries, Evans was unaware of that at the time of the interview on Wednesday.
What I seen was that a police officer was merging toward the front and the car gunned a little right and then the police officer kind of submerged and both of them interacted and it was a full twist about and the police car just twist around like a tornado, girl.
The Lord just sugared up and the man just got injured and the results is this police officer don’t know if his life is going to continue to make it or he going to just tap out.
