This web series tells awkward dating stories through the medium of pornographic pop-up books

This article is surprisingly safe for work

There is a web series which focuses on the telling of stories of online dating through the medium of pornographic pop-up books.

Created by Canadian filmmaker Stephen Dunn, the series is called Pop-up Porno and it hopes to challenge the stigma surrounding online dating through the retelling of awkward and/or amusing stories.

Each episode, of which there are currently three, features a tale from a contributor which has been transformed into a beautifully created pop-up book, and filmed with a voiceover.

The stories range from a first sexual encounter following a mastectomy to a problematic need to visit the occupied bathroom.

The series has been published online following a strong reception at the Sundance Film Festival.

Dunn told BuzzFeed that the process is collaborative between the designer, the author and himself, and it is one he hopes to continue into a second series.

Regardless of what happens they’re fun as hell to make, and as long as people keep sharing stories and we have enough money to pay our crew and the book designers, I’m happy to keep making more.

If you wish to contribute your story to the series for the second season, you can do so on popupporno.org in either a text or audio format. If selected you will be contacted directly by the filmmakers.
