‘Which boomer signed off on this’? TikTok video roasts MI6 recruitment site

A TikToker has roasted one of the MI6 recruitment websites, which includes references to James Bond and Dungeons and Dragons.

Since posting the clip last month TikToker Elise Lamsdale’s video has received over 600,000 views.

She captioned the post: “This is the cringiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”

And the video didn’t disappoint.

“You need to see the MI6 recruitment website, because if I had to find out that this is the way that we’re hiring for one of our most important security forces, so do you,” she said. “I cannot live with this knowledge alone.”

A screenshot of the website appeared behind her and she commented: “For a start the website is called Geeks Like You. Which boomer signed off on this?”

She questioned why there were cartoons, and which age group the website was aimed at.

The website includes references to geek culture staples such as N64s and Dungeons and Dragons.

She then jokes about a number of cards that claim to outline the qualities M16 is crying out for. Naturally, these include things such as never breaking your Duolingo streak, and getting “lost down YouTube rabbit holes”.

One of the top comments is from Duolingo, who wrote: “I would like to be excluded from this narrative.”

Another viewer wrote: “Why does it look like a 2005 internet safety campaign for schools?”

Poking fun at the website, another TikToker wrote: “Are they hiring a graphic designer as well?”

In a follow-up video joking about the Duolingo owl’s wish to be left out of the website, she performed a skit playing on the bird’s reputation for being persistent.
