We now have transparent eggshells, thanks to science

If you've ever wanted to look inside an egg to watch an embryo grow, you're now in luck.

Scientists in China have developed a see-through eggshell made from a silicon-based organic polymer in order to observe how a living thing, well, lives, as well as grows and develops.

Scaling down an entire biological system into a miniature device in this way could be useful for advances in gene therapy, researchers from Tsinghua University in Beijing say.
