A new far-right movement in Britain has had a nightmare start to life this week, with embarrassing television interviews and a high profile resignation.

Former English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon), who had very publicly denounced his previous links with extremism, announced this week that he was launching a UK version of the right-wing group Pegida.

Pegida (Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident) launched in Germany and has been responsible for a number of anti-Islam demonstrations across Europe.

But things haven't exactly started well for its British offshoot. In an interview with Channel 4 on Thursday, the group's new figurehead, Tim Scott, a former soldier, struggled to elaborate on the supposed threats Islam poses to Britain and to actually say his name...

While Pegida's launch in the UK, the Front National's election hopes in France and a host of other groups across Europe has led to growing fears of the rise of the far right, we can at least console ourselves for the moment with the fact that the majority of their leaders seem to be hopelessly inept...
