Many found themselves mired in Donald Trump’s froth of tweets on Tuesday.

These included the President mocking North Korea’s nuclear button, calls for the jailing of a Hillary Clinton aide and claims that he is the reason there were no deaths on commercial planes during 2017.

But one journalist noticed something strange. Daniel Dale of the Toronto Star shared notes on Twitter that compared Mr Trump’s tweets with segments aired on Fox News. Mr Dale found that the timing of the tweets aligned with Fox News' segments on the same topic.

This comes after accusations against Mr Trump in December by his advisers, friends and members of Congress that the president spends more than eight hours a day watching television. But Mr Trump later denied this in a tweet, saying it was "another false story."

So let’s take a look at the tweets and news in depth.

It all started with a tweet about the US Justice Department and Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Clinton’s former top aides. Mr Dale said this was shortly after a segment about Ms Abedin on Fox News.
