By now, we're not unused to Tory MPs touting somewhat dodgy takes on things. Now, it's happened again, but this time in regards to climate change.

Conservative MP for Monmouth, Wales, and Brexiteer David Davies took to Twitter to share his view that climate change is 'not a crisis'.

The tweet was in response to ongoing protests across London by climate change activists Extinction Rebellion, who have staged demonstrations across the capital over the last week, including stopping 55 buses after flooding the streets of Parliament Square and Oxford Circus.

Taking to the social media site, he wrote:

climate is & always has changed.

Who denies this?

Global temps always rise & fall.

Earth came out of cool period (Little Ice Age) in 1800s. A 0.8d increase not a crisis.

Uk emits lowest level CO2 since 1888.

Protesters should stop disrupting lives of ppl going to work by bus.

In a very unusual exchange for Twitter, a climate scientist politely offered to fill him in on the reality of the situation using science.

When Davies responded with a question, the scientist again responded with measured dignity.

Other people, however, weren't quite as polite.

The evidence for global warming is compelling. The current warming trend is of particular significance because most of it is extremely likely (greater than a 95 per cent probability) to be the result of human activity since the mid-20th-century, and is proceeding at a rate that's unprecedented over decades and millennia, according to Nasa.
