Just 83,000 people booing Tony Abbott in unison

Politicians are, for some unbeknownst reason, gluttons for punishment.

Australian prime minister Tony Abbot is no different, taking to the field for the post-match ceremony at the NRL Grand Final between South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs.

To the surprise of no one, Abbott was mercilessly booed by a crowd of 83,833 who earlier had meted out the same treatment to US soft rock band Train.

At least Abbott managed some sort of weird wave/salute gesture, and Australian Rugby League Commission chairman John Grant seemed to enjoy proceedings.
It would be remiss of us at this point not to post this video of George Osborne getting booed during the 2012 London Paralympics.
