Oasis painting stolen, police make series of lyric-based jokes

Well, actually just two.

This 'unique' monochrome canvas painting was stolen from an art gallery in Bury in the early hours of Monday morning.

Pc Katherine Gosling, of Greater Manchester Police, said:

Quite what the master plan behind this theft is I don't know, but a local business has been broken into and a one of a kind piece of art work taken.

This was the only piece taken and some might say we are therefore looking for an Oasis fan - similarly it may have been stolen to order. Regardless we are keen to find it and return it.

If you have any information about the person responsible, have seen the artwork or are offered it, please get in touch.

We're not sure if the joke in the last line of that quote really works. Wait...

The 80cm by 100cm painting, by artist, was taken from the Art Gallery and Gift Shop on Bolton Street when unknown offenders smashed a window.

The painting is by artist Olga Tsarevska Lomax and has 'otz2013' inscribed on the bottom right hand corner.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 08000 555 111.
