If you enjoy starting your day with a whopping bowl of cereal, you may want to put the spoon down and consider your options; for example, how does a couple slices of pizza sound?

In an interview with the Daily Meal, dietitian Chelsey Amer explains why a slice of pizza could be better for more of a well-balanced diet than a bowl of cereal:

“You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories

While pizza is absolutely not to be considered a 'health food', when you compare it to the more sugary cereals these days, you may actually have a more balanced breakfast if you opt for pizza.

Part of the reason for this is because - according to Amer -protein:

Pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning.

Since a lot of cereal is rather sugary, they tend to lead to quick sugar crashes, but Amer points out this doesn't happen with pizza. It's important to note that when talking about pizza there are such things as healthy options which could provide you with a solid source of protein, carbs and of course, a healthy supply of vegetables.

But before you go drowning yourself in cheesy, delicious pizzas every morning, just remember that moderation is key.

Finally, a breakfast we can all agree on. Morning slice of pizza, anyone?
