England has failed to win another World Cup. Our poor brave boys.

Yup, that’s right, after an utterly enthralling six weeks that has seen Eddie Jones’ England play some of their finest rugby in decades, the dream is over.

The team faced off against South Africa having already offed the All Blacks last week, stepping onto the field as hot favourites to win the whole tournament - their first since 2003. Alas it was not meant to be.

South Africa, just as they did in the 2007 Rugby World Cup final managed to get the upper hand winning the game 12 - 32.

And as England’s collective hearts broke, the jokes poured in.

Many blamed Boris Johnson

Maybe England were just distracted by Faf de Klerk's hair?

But also... people were pretty much in awe of the Springboks who, let's face it, absolutely nailed it. There are worse ways to be beaten.,

Obviously, we’ll be moaning about this for weeks. Still, at least it wasn’t as dramatic as New Zealand’s reaction to last week’s defeat.
