Kyle Amick's pit-bull terrier-Labrador mix Hannah had been ill for a couple of months. They'd tried medication, but found that it still made Hannah sick.

So last week Amick made the heart-breaking decision to put her dog of 11 years down.

She documented Hannah's last day on Snapchat:

Hannah has been having a lot of seizures

Initially, she'd gone on medication for her kidneys and her elbows and hips, because walking had become painful for her

And while she didn't have the seizures when she was on medication, she couldn't walk properly, causing her to fall often

Kyle made an incredibly difficult decision to put Hannah down

She decided that "keeping her on the meds was selfish, but keeping her off them was just as cruel"

So she decided to make Hannah's last day the best ever

With a luxurious bath

Her favourite junk food

The rest of the family tried to remain brave when they said goodbye

And Hannah had even managed to dredge up some energy to play with her friend of nine years, Vinny

Her nails got done

And it was all incredibly emotional for everyone involved

The ride to the clinic was a sombre affair

Her post was shared over 100,000 times in less than 24 hours. Amick wrote:

I decided to give her one last hoo-rah day of pampering, like the queen she's always been, and let her go. Where there would be no pain, no seizures, no whimpering in the night. Just peace and hopefully love.

You're my best friend and I love you more than you know.

We're so sorry for your loss, Kyle.
