ASOS feature student as a model after man mocks her dress on Tinder

ASOS feature student as a model after man mocks her dress on Tinder

Online dating can be a way of finding a meaningful relationship but it is a minefield, especially when rude and belligerent men are around.

Unfortunately for 20-year-old Thea Lauryn Chippendale, this is exactly what she encountered when she matched with a man on Tinder called George.

Bizarrely George's first message to Thea wasn't your typical hello or joke, instead, he chose to criticise a dress that she was wearing in one of her pictures.

He said:

Not gonna lie you're a bit of a joke but that dress in the last photo is not doing any favours. Hope this helps?

What??? Did he seriously match with her just to criticise what she was wearing?

Things didn't get much better when she asked him to explain himself, writing:

Why did you feel like you needed to comment on it?

Is your head that far up your own arse that you thought your opinion mattered?

Not getting the hint that his comment was welcome, George relied:

Literally had to tell you else I wouldn't of slept.

It's awful you not reckon? Charity shop job!

I tell you what...GROW UP! And shop somewhere decent!

Thanks. Hope this helps.

No, you're not helping George, you're not helping at all.

Given the complete and utter ignorance that he displayed, Thea decided to share the messages on Twitter and it soon went viral, with people confirming that there was nothing wrong with the dress and that she looked great.

If that wasn't enough, Thea would truly have the last laugh on George when ASOS, the clothing brand that had produced the dress, got in touch with her after seeing the tweet.

The company have since updated the webpage for the dress and included Thea's picture, effectively making her a model for one of the biggest fashion brands in the UK.

Speaking to the BBC, Thea, who is a student from Lincoln, said:

I'm absolutely gobsmacked that they've actually done it.

I've had to pinch myself quite a few times to believe it's real.

I'm still so shocked and amazed that they've put a picture of me on their website.

So, in a way you did help George. You made Thea a viral star and got her featured as a model on ASOS!
