Erling Haaland has sent fans into a frenzy after ditching his signature locks and debuting a dramatically shorter haircut ahead of the new season, leaving supporters divided over the unexpected change.

The 26-year-old took to social media on Sunday (23 August) to share a snippet from his latest YouTube video, initially appearing with his familiar long blonde hair before the clip cuts to reveal his completely transformed appearance.

"New season, new trim," he wrote in the caption, and it didn't take long for fans to flood the comments with their reactions.

"You look more Erling than Haaland right now," one fan wrote, while another joked: "What did Zlatan tell you!"

One fan humoured:" I’m gone for one hour, and Haaland has short hair, sure."

Meanwhile, another chimed in: "Stop trolling man wtf is this now."

Haaland wasn't finished there. He also posted a series of photos from what appeared to be the haircut itself, with each snap capturing another stage of the transformation as his trademark hair was gradually chopped away.

"Short hair don’t care," he quipped.

Haaland joined Manchester City in 2022 and has established himself as one of the Premier League's most prolific goalscorers. His first chance to show off the new haircut on the pitch comes on Sunday, with City facing Bournemouth in their opening fixture.
