Keith Olbermann, host of GQ's The Resistance, is arguing that Donald Trump is a psychopath.

In the video, he says:

Could Donald trump pass a sanity test? With the help of a couple of professionals in the field and using only Trump’s words and actions, I scored him on an actual 20 question screening test for psychopaths. The most you could get is 40 points, the threshold for probably being a psychopath is 30 points.

Trump’s words and actions got him 32 points.

And he could still finish life as high as 36 points, since two of [the] questions pertain to criminal record and violation of parole and there’s plenty of time for both.

Short answer: Trump couldn’t pass a sanity test then or now.

You can watch the video here:

It’s true that Trump has done and said some bizarre and questionable things since he was sworn in as president (and before, of course).

Let’s not forget the Muslim ban, the accusations that Obama “wiretapped” him, and lies about winning the popular vote – just to name three.

But, in the interest of balance:

  • Olbermann uses “psychopath” and “sanity” interchangeably, but the two are very different things
  • Olbermann doesn’t refer to which test he’s using, or which “professionals” he’s gone to
  • It’s unclear how he used Trump’s words and actions to complete the test
  • No one can be diagnosed for either psychopathy or insanity from a distance using a 20-question test
