This beautiful photo series encourages women to embrace their insecurities

An American photographer has shot an empowering photo series that promotes positive body image.

Jess Fielder, from New Jersey, has captured 17 women holding a board with an insult they've had said to them written on it. She has then taken another photo of each woman with a positive comment on the board.

She wrote on social media: "These women were willing to bare not just their bodies but a little bit of their hearts for this project."

The series, which is featured on Fielder's Facebook page, has received more than 150,000 likes and 316,000 shares.

"I loved the moment of seeing their faces and demeanors change when they held up the second card," said Fielder. "They are all beautiful. period. I hope that for at least those couple hours, they knew it to be true."
