Barack Obama has some sound advice for those who wish to get married.
With 26 years of what appears to be a very happy and fulfilling marriage under his belt, the former US president thinks he knows the secret to seeing if you’ve found the perfect person to marry.
Former senior adviser to the president Dan Pfeiffer shares what Obama told him about marriage in his new book ‘Yes We Still Can’.
There are just three questions to ask yourself about your partner:
1. Are they someone you find interesting?
You will spend more time with this person than anyone else for the rest of your life, and there is nothing more important than always wanting to hear what she has to say about things.
2. Do they make you laugh?
3. Will they make a good parent?
I don’t know if you want kids, but if you do, do you think she will be a good mum? Life is long. These are the things that really matter over the long term.
Pfeiffer, who got engaged to his partner 'Howli' a year later, told Obama:
Howli is incredibly interesting, funnier than I am, and will be a phenomenal mum’
‘Sounds like she’s the one. Lucky you,’ Obama responded.
