Andy Burnham's idea to win the Labour leadership: bring back Ed Miliband

Andy Burnham will seek to bring Ed Miliband into his shadow Cabinet if he wins the Labour leadership.

In an interview with Mark Leftly of the Independent on Sunday, Burnham said he would try to coax Miliband - who quit as leader after guiding Labour to its worst election result since 1987 - back to frontline politics:

I'm somebody who respects him greatly. I'd certainly talk to him about it.

The shadow health secretary might want him in his team, but he was unaware of the biggest story of the week - the Milibeard.

Asked what he thought of the scruff that Miliband was sporting on holiday in Australia, Burnham said: “What? Ed M? How have I missed that?”

After being shown the picture, he added: "I think it suits him. Very trendy, very hipster… I'm not sure facial hair is my forte. I get enough comments about my eyelashes."
