With so many different pieces of equipment to keep an eye on during a radio broadcast, it’s natural that occasionally mistakes will be made.
Which brings us swiftly to BBC Radio 4.
Listeners tuning into to today’s You and Yours heard an inadvertent expletive uttered live on radio from someone testing the sound.
The man can be heard in the background saying: "Testing...testing, testing, testing."
It’s so f**king cold in here! Jesus Christ.
It's so cold. It's so cold in here.
Same.
Ironically, the weather forecast was coming up next.
Needless to say, listeners noticed the swearing and took it with a healthy dose of humour
Though there were a few gentle admonishments...
“BBC Radio 4, the news at 1 o’clock. It’s fucking cold in here”. https://t.co/9XAE3Tdr9v— Jon Holmes (@Jon Holmes) 1571226517
@DavidLloydRADIO Oooofff. A reminder there never to swear near a mic.— Rae Earl (@Rae Earl) 1571227139
@NickJWReilly @BBCRadio4 I think the pic of the cute doggo makes this clip perfect. 😜— Share & 🅴njoy (@Share & 🅴njoy) 1571225812
Someone in the Radio 4 news studio has left the mike up while You & Yours is on air.... great to hear the news read… https://t.co/KUflVLVrPe— RyanM (@RyanM) 1571225296
I think @BBCRadio4 #YouAndYours is having technical difficulties, both with the mixer board AND the thermostat in the other studio.— Tim McCann #FSFA (@Tim McCann #FSFA) 1571225318
One listener suggested they put the heating on in the studio...
Oops @BBCRadio4 ... someone said a naughty word while #Youandyours was on! Better put some heating on in the studio if it’s that cold...— Susannah 👂💙 (@Susannah 👂💙) 1571225151
