Trump's bible study teacher blames coronavirus on gay people and climate activists, saying it's 'God's wrath'

Trump’s cabinet is full of very religious people, from Mike Pence (who famously refuses to be alone with any woman who isn’t his wife) to education secretary Betsy DeVos, who wanted to use schools to build "God's kingdom".

But for the first time in 100 years, the US cabinet has a bible study group, which is, well, not the best look for a country supposedly founded with no official religion.

To make matters worse, the man who leads it is blaming coronavirus on gay people, because of course he is.

Every week Ralph Drollinger teaches the most powerful politicians in America about the bible.

A few days ago on his blog, Capitol Ministries, he published his “biblically astute evaluation” of the coronavirus pandemic. Let’s take a little dive in, shall we?

He wrote:

Yes, America is experiencing the consequential wrath of God.

He then set out what he thinks are the five key “identifiers” of this. Number three is, you’ve guessed it, “a sensation toward homosexuality".

Clearly indicative of God’s forsaking wrath is when the abandoned serve the creature rather than the creator.

Indicative of forsaking wrath is a proclivity toward lesbianism and homosexuality.

Other supposed causes of the coronavirus are those who worship the “religion of environmentalism” (presumably he means people like Greta Thunberg who are trying to save the planet). He also blames people who don’t follow any religion.

The Intercept reports that Drollinger’s study guides have attempted to justify Trump’s most terrible decisions, including separating child refugees from their parents, by using *passages from the bible*. Yeesh.

Two leaders of the US coronavirus task force, Ben Carson and health secretary Alex Azar, reportedly attend Drollinger’s Bible study every week.
