Frozen actor rips pro-Trump sign from hands of supporter who pulled it out during curtain call

Despite appearing in the hit Disney musical 'Frozen', actor Timothy Hughes lost his cool when a Trump supported pulled out a 'Trump 2020' sign during the curtain call of a Broadway performance.

Timothy Hughes, who plays the Troll King in the hit musical, ripped the pro-Trump sign from an audience member's hands, who was sitting in the front row and also wearing a 'Make America Great Again' cap, during a performance at the St. James Theatre on Wednesday evening, reports the New York Post.

Speaking the next day, the actor stood by his decision to yank the sign from the man's hands. Posting a video of the moment to Instagram, he accompanied the footage with the caption:

What does it say about our country and politics when a man at the show tonight felt the need to protest Disney’s Frozen on Broadway with a pro Trump flag??

How frightening is it that our show’s messages of love, acceptance, and diversity have become the opposition to supporting Trump?

The curtain call is a thank you between actors and audience, a final connection to end a shared experience.

I will not apologise for how I responded to the disrespectful man trying to interrupt this moment with a pathetic political platform.

Not at our show!

Not in front of my beautiful, diverse, talented cast at @frozenbroadway.

 I appreciate everyone’s support.

Many of the actor's Instagram followers were impressed by his actions, and flooded his feed with supportive messages.

One wrote:

You ROCK, Timothy!! I don't know who you are - but me and the rest of my family are in LOVE with you already!! xoxo

And another echoed this sentiment:

Thank you sir!!! We the people salute you !

According to the Huffington Post, instead of taking on board the show's message of 'Let It Go', the Trump supporter then stood outside the show, and 'threatened to sue' if he didn't get his Trump flag back.

Taking to Twitter, witness Joy Rosenthal wrote:

He disrupted bows at @Frozenbroadway tonight with a giant Trump 2020 flag in the front row. a cast member snatched the flag. Here he is pouting and threatening to sue if he doesn’t get his flag back. This is a children’s show, people.

This isn't the first time that Broadway actors have taken a stand against Trump and his administration.

In 2016 then Vice-President-elect Mike Pence attended a performance of the international hit musical Hamilton. On his arrival, the Republican was booed by the audience, but the cast also took the opportunity to offer an impassioned plea to the politician.

Brandon Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr, addressed Pence after the curtain call, saying:

We, sir — we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us.

The then president-elect, Donald Trump, responded on Twitter, demanding an apology.
