For some reason, a lot of people hate Nickelback. Like, a lot of people.
Studies have been conducted in an effort to find the root cause of such deep-seated hatred and a Kickstarter campaign was once started to try and stop them from returning to London in 2016.
One student even had a theory about why so many people dislike the band, despite the fact they have sold 50 million albums – with only The Beatles beating them in US sales by a foreign band in the 2000s. Finn Salli Anttonen found they “lacked a sincere identity".
Anyway, the point is they field a lot of haters.
It turns out, they don’t care.
In the latest Jimmy Kimmel’s Mean Tweets segment, they joined Pink, Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa, among others, to read the horrible things anti-fans write about them.
“I would rather stab myself in the taint than hear another Nickelback song,” someone wrote.
WELL. Amidst giggling, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger had the following to say:
It’s funny. That’s how we make Nickelback songs.
Korn got Nickelback hate too, and in the clip before, an anti-fan said: “Korn. F**k those guys more than Nickelback.”
Given that they’ve sold nine studio albums, two compilation albums, 43 singles, and are worth tens of millions of dollars between them, they must be doing something right…
