Has Nigel Farage really not turned up at European Parliament for an entire month?

Serial election loser, on-and-off Ukip leader, unofficial face of Ferrero Rocher, Member for European Parliament (MEP) and Donald Trump’s new best pal, Nigel Farage also markets himself as Man of the People.

But eyebrows were furrowed this weekend after it was claimed this man has been paid more than £5,000 for not really doing his job.

Channel 4 correspondent Ciaran Jenkins pointed out on Twitter that:

It's over a month since Nigel Farage last contributed at European Parliament - job he's paid €8,000 a month to do.

The €8,000 figure is pre-tax, but still leaves Farage with €6,400, which is £5,431 a month.

So, Man of the People’s most recent recorded activities were on 21 October.

However, a spokesperson for the interim Ukip leader disputed this and told indy100 Farage had been at the European Parliament this week.

Yet his MEP page shows that his last contribution was to point out that there was no punch thrown during the incident involving two of Ukip’s MEPs in October.

Since then, Farage has jetted off to the US to meet Trump, and attended a bash held in his honour at the Ritz to mark his political career - not to mention countless television appearances, newspaper columns and even his own radio show.

Luckily, Twitter had some funny responses to help quell the rage.
