Photographer takes pictures of men and cats to crush gender stereotypes

New York-based photographer David Williams set out to challenge the way society "genderises" animal ownership and debunk the myth of the "crazy cat lady".

As his series of captivating photos with male cat owners - aptly titled Men & Cats - shows, you certainly do not need a vagina to appreciate a feline companion, or indeed be "crazy".

I found that the way society genderizes animal ownership very compelling. As a portrait photographer I was interested in capturing the relationships of my male friends and their feline friends. It was also a good excuse to hang out with a bunch of cats!
