The Trump campaign, in what would be deemed a new low if there weren’t so many other contenders, is now selling 'Fredo Unhinged' t-shirts to mock Chris Cuomo.
Cuomo was recently filmed flying into a rage when referred to as Fredo, a reference to John Cazale’s character in The Godfather, the ineffective son of crime boss Vito Corleone.
The president and his team have wasted no time in embracing the controversy and are now producing the shirts for $34 apiece. Trump had this to say when the footage emerged:
I think that what Chris Cuomo did was horrible. His language was horrible. He looked like a total, out-of-control animal.
He lost it. Frankly, I don’t think anybody should defend him because he spews lies every night.
Tim Murtaugh, director of communications for the Trump campaign, has claimed the clothing is a response to:
Media elites who have different rules for themselves than the ones they try to enforce on president Trump and his supporters. Cuomo melted down. It felt like it needed a T-shirt to commemorate the occasion.
As an aside, Cazale appeared in five films over six years, all of which were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Undoubtedly one of the greats, the actor does not deserve any association with this situation.
