Tucker Carlson went on a rant against diversity on Fox News, and Twitter owned him

Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson has gone on a rant against diversity while speaking live on the famously right-wing broadcasting channel on Friday.

Talking on his regular prime time programme Tucker Carlson Tonight, the conservative commentator took aim at Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hilary Clinton, and any other Democrats who have called for a more diverse American way of life.

He directly criticised anyone who said 'diversity is our strength', with the chyron reading:

How exactly is 'diversity' our 'strength'?

He then criticised Democrats who he claimed had made 'diversity is our strength' the American 'motto', and asked them to qualify their arguments, by trying to think of other institutions where diversity is useful.

He said:

Can you think of other institutions such as, I don't know, marriage or military units, in which the less people have in common, the more cohesive they are?

He then continued:

Do you get on better with your neighbours or co-workers if you can't understand each other, or share no common values? Please be honest as you answer this question.

Needless to say, his views, which can be seen to align with white nationalist ideas, did not go down well on Twitter.

A call was made for advertisers to pull their support of the programme citing the links between Carlson's views and white supremacy.

Many with military experience also said that it draws its strength from its diversity.

Others showed that diversity has always been a key aspect of the American constitution.

And that the concept is really nothing new.

While some were just horrified by how Tucker appears to define 'diversity' full stop.

Others got personal.
