This couple just got Bill Murray to reveal the gender of their baby on a golf course

Gender reveals are a seemingly nice idea, but when you think about it they are a little cheesy and problematic.

Like, does it really matter if everyone makes a song or dance about the gender of the baby before it's born? It didn't bother William or Kate.

Also, what if that baby decides later in life that it identifies as the opposite gender? Those old videos will look a little awkward in hindsight.

Anyway, that's enough of us grumbling, as gender reveals don't look to be going anywhere anytime soon.

If you are going to do one, you might as well do it right - and we can't think of a better way than to have Hollywood legend Bill Murray announce the gender of your baby

That's exactly what Jacqueline and Michael Davis did when they attended the Murray Bros. Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament in St Augustine, Florida, last week.

Murray, who is a big golf fan, hit a novelty ball off a tee which then exploded revealing that the couple were about to have a boy.

Originally the Ghostbusters star wasn't a part of their plans and Michael was just supposed to hit the ball himself, but they were shocked to see the 67-year-old actor waiting for them.

Both the couple, Murray, and the onlookers all seemed to be delighted by the spectacle. When speaking to Fox, Jacqueline couldn't contain her happiness and also revealed that the actor gave them a gift.

[Bill Murray] said it was his first gender reveal. I was very happy, very excited.

We're going to frame the driver. It's pretty cool.

This isn't the first time that Mr Murray has done something that other celebrities would probably scoff at.

Two years ago, he just wandered into the White House press room and began talking and that's just the start of it.

Keep being awesome Bill and congratulations to the happy couple.
