Jennifer Aniston named her dog after Dolly Parton and the singer wasn't a big fan of the tribute

Jennifer Aniston and Dolly Parton have struck up something of an odd friendship.

The two American entertainment icons recently worked together on the new Netflix movie Dumplin' with Aniston playing the lead part and Parton providing the music.

A few days ago Parton hilariously overshared a piece of information about her husband and his crush on Aniston.

Now Aniston has shared another awkward story about their friendship as they don't appear to see eye-to-eye when it comes to dog names.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, the 49-year-old actress revealed that she has always been a huge fan of the country singer, so much so that she even named her dog after her.

Kimmel asked her how Dolly felt about that as his wife, Molly McNearney (who also stars in Dumplin') sometimes meets dogs sharing her first name which she isn't too keen about.

Aniston then shared an anecdote about that very subject and Dolly, much like Molly doesn't take kindly to dogs having the same name as her. The Friends star said:

Yesterday Dolly and I were doing press and somehow that came up.

I know when she [Aniston] said 'I named my dog Dolly after you,  I didn't know how I felt about that.'

And I was like 'oh god, I've insulted her.' Then the interviewer said 'well would you now get a dog and name it Jennifer?'

And I said 'well that's so not a dog's name. I've never met a dog named Jennifer.' So I guess, I slightly offended her.

I just think it's cute. She's so sweet.

Sounds a little awkward if you ask us. Watch the full segment in the video below and see what you think.
