Jennifer Garner has finally responded to that Oscars meme

At the Academy Awards earlier this month, actress Jennifer Garner became a viral meme thanks to a face she pulled during the ceremony.

As she and the rest of the audience applauded someone who was collecting an award, she appeared to come to a sudden realisation.

What had happened? Did she realise that the wrong person had won? Or that she had forgotten to turn the gas off?

Either way, people were more than eager to provide a few possible explanations.

Amazingly, Jennifer even memed herself by adding commentary to the clip on an Instagram story.

But it turns out that not even Jennifer knew what was going on in that moment and that it was just a random expression.

During her appearance on the most recent episode of The Ellen Show, the 45-year-old actress admitted that she was clueless about what was going on.

She said:

I have no control over this [pointing at face]. What am I doing?

I started getting texts, as you can imagine, with people saying 'what were you thinking? what's happening?' 

I tried really hard to not see myself online but she was a little unavoidable.

I regret, regret, regret. What is wrong with me?
