According to Marvel lore, the hammer can only be wielded by those it deems worthy. Thus far in the cinematic universe, only Thor, Captain America and Vision have managed such a feat.
This was always likely to end badly since the man-children are still reeling from the news that Natalie Portman will play the “Mighty Thor” in the upcoming movie Love and Thunder.
Natalie Portman and Michael B Jordan left supportive comments but, in grimly predictable fashion, the haters were out in force.
Let's focus on the positive, however, and not give those people the oxygen of publicity.
Portman offered the comment: "Hey muscles, easy with my hammer" followed by three exclamation marks and three hearts. Jordan simply went for a double cry-laughing emoji. Textbook.
Some less well-known names offered incisive analysis such as "Seeing all you fragile men crying in the comments over a damn picture... And y'all say women are sensitive lmao" and, most astutely of all:
Imagine letting someone you don't know and who has no idea you exist have so much power over you that you have to comment about how much you hate her. It's sad to watch really.
Thankfully some fans managed to turn the story on its head.
Brie Larson can make grown men cry by just posting a picture of herself holding Thor's hammer her power https://t.co/8qVe8T94Hw
