Piers Morgan has officially left the building.

The controversial journalist and broadcaster has emptied out his office at the Good Morning Britain studio, well and truly cementing the end of his time at the helm of the ITV show.

Posting on Twitter, the TV host shared a snap of a load of boxes, piled up high on top of one another, with the caption: “Goodbye, Good Morning Britain!” In the corner of the room was a life-size cardboard cut-out of Susanna Reid, with whom he co-hosted the flagship breakfast show, wearing a very glam red sequinned gown. He added: “I think I’ll leave the cardboard cut-out... would be a bit creepy to take that home.”

Morgan left the show after sparking controversy by saying he “didn’t believe a word” of what Meghan said in the interview she did alongside her husband Prince Harry with Oprah Winfrey. During the chat, Meghan described how she asked for help when she was suicidal, but claimed she was not given the right support by Buckingham Palace. The Queen later said in a statement that the issues raised would be “addressed by the family privately”.

Morgan’s comments sparked a record amount of complaints to Ofcom, and criticism from mental health charities.

In another notable event, he stormed off set live on TV when his colleague Alex Beresford challenged him over his thoughts on Meghan.

Fans have called him to come back to the show, which has lost hundreds of thousands of viewers since his departure. A petition has since reached 360,000 names for him to be rehired.

But this latest tweet appears to suggest that won’t happen any time soon.

So, where are those boxes going next then, Piers?
