Travis Kelce admits he attempted a romantic gesture for Taylor Swift – but didn't quite pull it off

If you want to have everything you’ve ever said about dating dug up for the world to hear, go out with the most beloved pop star on the planet.

This is a lesson American football star Travis Kelce is learning the hard way.

In case you didn’t know, the Kansas City Chiefs star is Taylor Swift’s latest love interest, and her armies of loyal fans are now doggedly vetting whether he’s a good match for their gal.

Admittedly, not all of their findings have been encouraging (we’ll come on to that later), but one resurfaced video has secured his place at the top of the suitable suitors’ list.

In the clip, taken from the podcast Travis, 33, hosts with his brother Jason, 35, he opened up about a thwarted attempt to attract her attention.

Speaking during a July episode of their ‘New Heights’ show, Travis told his big bro that he’d nabbed himself a ticked to the Arrowhead Stadium leg of Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour.

However, whilst he was palpably in awe of her talents as a performer, he was left crestfallen by the outing.

“I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” the tight end admitted.

“So I was a little butthurt I didn't get to hand her, one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Seizing on the matter-of-fact revelation, Jason interjected: “You made her a bracelet?”

The Cheifs icon then explained how Swifties famously trade friendship bracelets at her concerts, inspired by lyrics on her hit ‘You’re on Your Own Kid’.”

On the track, which features on her latest album ‘Midnights’, Tay sings: “There were pages turned with the bridges burned / Everything you lose is a step you take / So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it / You’ve got no reason to be afraid.”

Sadly for Travis, he wasn’t able to taste the moment, because he failed to give the music icon his gift: a personalised bracelet with his “number on”.

“She doesn't meet anybody, or at least she didn't want to meet me, so I took it personal[ly],” he added.

Jason asked whether he was referring to the number he wears on his sports jersey – 87 – or his phone number.

“You know which one,” Travis replied suggestively.

In a dig at his sibling, Jason suggested that, as a “big Eagles’ fan” Swift “probably just hasn’t got over” the result of this year’s Superbowl, which saw the Chiefs beat the Philedelfia side 38-35.

Still, if that was the case two months ago, it certainly no longer applies, with the ‘Love Story’ singer filmed cheering from the stands – next to Travis’s mother no less – as his side thrashed the Chicago Bears on Saturday.

And yet, the 33-year-old hasn’t secured himself the reputation of a bonafide Romeo just yet.

Another unearthed interview, this one taken from 2016, paints him in a somewhat less wholesome light.

In an appearance on an episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen’, Travis admitted to some questionable “dealbreakers” when considering a woman’s potential as a love interest.

Beginning the Q&A, reality TV star Ramona Singer asked him if it’s a “dealbreaker if a girl won't sleep with you after the third date.”

“The third date? I feel like that's the breaker right there,” he replied, before attempting to correct himself.

“I don’t want to say a dealbreaker,” he continued but, tapping on his head, he then added: “[It] puts some questions in there.”

He then declared that it wasn’t a dealbreaker if a woman has “fake boobs” provided she’s “comfortable and very confident in what she looks like".

“I mean, I'm all for it,” he added.

Singer then asked him whether it was a dealbreaker if “a girl doesn’t like to give oral sex”.

“Sounds like a dealbreaker to me,” he replied, laughing.

Agreeing, his interviewer then high-fived him, before insisting: “Well, as long as you give it.”

Now, for anyone still wondering whether or not Travis has managed to win the heart of one of the most idolised women in the world, he addressed the hearsay in an interview for the 'Pat McAfee Show' over the weekend.

“Your love life is being talked about by the whole entire world right now,” McAfee pointed out to his guest before inviting him to “expand upon” the gossip.

Responding with uncharacteristic reservedness, Travis replied: “It's hilarious how much traction this has actually got. I think right now it's like that old game in school called ‘telephone’ where everybody's just whispering in each other's ear, just hearing some random stuff [and] no one actually knows what's going on.”

He then rambled on for a few minutes about how people shouldn’t listen to Jason’s comments about the situation, saying: “Please everybody stop asking my brother about [my dating relationship].”

However, when asked whether he “hated that this is happening”, Travis conceded: “No, I mean it's life, baby. It's life.”

He then revealed: “I threw the ball in her court and I told her, ‘I've seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one's a little more lit.

“So we'll see what happens in the near future.”

All we can say is, the world will be watching closely.
