Yesterday, 54-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan was forced to cough up some cash after he became embroiled in a Twitter battle with LGBTQ activist and army veteran Charlotte Clymer, during the England vs USA Women's World Cup semi-final.
A Twitter user got in touch with Clymer, to ask her whether Morgan had ever 'put his money where his mouth is', and placed a bet for charity on the match. In response, Clymer said:
Nope, @piersmorgan was too scared to place a bet for charity on this match #USAvEng

However, never one to sit back and take a mocking, Morgan noticed the mention, and took the opportunity to respond:
How much do you want to bet?

In response, Clymer said:
Let's make it $100 to the charity of our choice. You game?

Morgan then decided to up the ante:
Let’s make it $1000.

Clymer accepted the challenge:

The Lionesses started the game in a shaky manner after the USA scored in the tenth minute. However, they managed to equalise when Ellen White, 30, scored just nine minutes later.
Towards the end of the second half, however, the Americans scored a second time, with their second goal scorer, Alex Morgan, 30, celebrating by miming sipping a cup of tea.
As the second half got underway, England managed to equalise, with White, scoring again. However, after going to VAR, the goal was disallowed and ruled offside.
Wrapping up the back-and-forth as the game drew to a close, Clymer called on Morgan to make good on his promise to donate.
In a tweet, she wrote:
Well, @PiersMorgan, I know you’re a man of your word,” she replied. “I now invite you to make good by donating $1000 to @RAICESTEXAS, an organisation that provides free and low-cost legal see vices to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees.

It's unknown whether Mr Morgan has made good on his promise yet.
But one thing's for sure, after Morgan criticised Megan Rapinoe for 'loving herself' last week, the winger would certainly be happy with the result...
