The Apprentice businessman Lord Sugar retweeted an article by parody website The Onion.
Hilariously, he seemed to actually believe its headline – that Taylor Swift had chosen to get a swastika tattooed on her face.
Confused, he tweeted:
Eh I don't get this . Can someone explain is she making a statement or what ? https://t.co/C0zBVIcuQs— Lord Sugar (@Lord Sugar) 1524711462
Despite the picture being obviously Photoshopped and unaccompanied by any kind of explanatory article, his seeming belief that the controversial tat was real sparked a chain of parody comments.
@clintoncampbell @Lord_Sugar Please tell me you don't honestly think that's a real picture?— Danny Breen (@Danny Breen) 1524720458
In fairness, the world is so surreal right now that it's never been harder to spot 'fake news'.
Luckily, he later spotted his mistake.
Thanks to so many people informing me that Onion is a spoof site. I thought it was strange to show Taylor Swift… https://t.co/gMOA44W7bo— Lord Sugar (@Lord Sugar) 1524762909
