Mauricio Macri has been elected as the new president of Argentina following a narrow victory in this weekend's run-off election.
The former mayor of Buenos Aires defeated Daniel Scioli - the handpicked successor of the Peronist incumbent Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner - winning 51.4 per cent of the vote.
The pair had already gone head-to-head in a first round of votes in late October but Macri had started to grow his lead in the polls in recent weeks.
After pulling off what just a year ago looked an unlikely victory, Macri took to the stage in his election headquarters and started dancing with joy:
